Edisto Island Serpentarium Outreach Programs

Edisto Island Serpentarium offers unique experiences with reptiles and a variety of programs tailored to your needs! With our live local and exotic reptiles, we teach about a variety of things, including how to identify venomous and non-venomous snakes, the interesting adaptations reptiles have developed, how reptiles fit into the ecosystem, how to stay safe during a reptile encounter, and much more!

Reptiles on the Move

This is our standard reptile presentation, which can be tailored to specific age groups as needed. This 40 minute presentation includes venomous and non-venomous snakes local to the southeast and either an alligator OR local turtles. Snakes can either be presented by the handler or in Vision cages as appropriate for your audience and venue. Base Price: $250

Animal Adaptations

Learn about why reptiles look like they do. What makes a gecko stick to the wall? How do snakes climb trees? How can alligators stay underwater for over 8 hours in winter? And what in the world is a Tuatara? Get the answers to these questions and more by taking an in-depth look at some of the most interesting reptile adaptations during this 40 minute presentation. A/V equipment necessary to present Powerpoint. Base Price: $250

Safety Program

This program is tailored specifically for emergency services groups, foresters, power company linemen, scout groups and other groups who may either have close encounters with dangerous reptiles or treat those who do. Learn which snakes are dangerous, how venom works, and what not to do when bitten. Our reptile handler will bring examples of common venomous snakes to the region and explain how to properly respond to a snake bite on the scene in order to give medical professionals the best chance to treat the victim properly. (Call directly for pricing on Safety Programs).

CrocoGator!

Ever wondered what the differences between crocodiles and alligators really are? Did you know that there are 23 species of crocodilians worldwide? Learn about our local crocodilian, the American Alligator, and all its cousins in this 40 minute presentation. A/V equipment necessary to present Powerpoint. Base Price: $250

Scaly Friends

Let us bring our animals to your event! Two or more handlers will spend up to 4 hours at your event to handle reptiles and answer questions for your visitors. Make your event a hit with scaly friends! Base Price: $300
